Project helped stand up the new company with an independent IT environment on just an eight-month timeline
CHICAGO – May 8, 2023 – Fission Consulting has successfully completed a comprehensive data migration project for a leading sporting goods and rugged outdoor equipment manufacturer and distributor, which is now managing its operations on Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365).
The company, which spun off from a different organization in 2020, offers electro-optics, firearms accessories, and sports and recreation products. The new company required a transition of its data into an enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform independent of the previous organization’s systems.
Fission, an IT advisory firm for private equity and industry clients, helped execute the data extraction and transformation project to prepare master and operational data to load into D365. Fission supported an eight-month implementation, helping to stand up the newly formed company in a short timeframe and responding to its requirements for a new ERP environment with flexibility, collaboration and leadership.
“It was a classic lift-and-shift project for us,” said Fission CEO Brandon Lage. “ERP migrations always have nuances that require company-specific knowledge to address, but identifying in-scope data when forming two companies from one was a challenge. The customer’s project team had the legacy data knowledge and all the support it needed for a successful migration.”
Fission managed the project with its proven data migration approach, which combines its proprietary software suite, ATOM, with its project management methodology, enabling systematic and error-free data migration.
